Jakarta, ( - The Australian Embassy in Jakarta is pleased to collaborate with the International Centre for Islam and Pluralism (ICIP) to present a soccer clinic from 18 - 28 May 2015.

The clinic will be led by professional Australian female soccer player and Captain of the Female Premier League at the University of New South Wales, Assmaah Helal. Assmaah is also the coordinator of Football United, the embassy said on its official website on Monday.

Assmaah will travel to several prominent universities and Islamic boarding schools in Jakarta, Pamulang, Tanggerang, Bogor, Cirebon and Makassar to play soccer with students and share her experiences as a female Muslim soccer player.

The clinic aims to introduce young women and girls to the game of soccer and inspire them to participate in sport. It will also provide a great opportunity for social and community engagement and English-language learning for female students.

Australian Chargé d Affaires to Indonesia, Dr David Engel, said soccer was one of Australias most popular sports, especially among young women.

"Soccer is a prominent sport in Australia played by both men and women. There are also many talented young soccer players in Indonesia. The soccer clinic will provide an opportunity to improve these skills and encourage female students to play this terrific sport", Dr Engel said.
